Compassion

I know I've said it before but...I love my quilt guild.  I love it for many reasons but mainly because we have the most generous and compassionate group of ladies in our guild.  The guild has a stash of quilts we call "compassion quilts" that are made by members of the guild and donated to be given to anyone who is going through a tough time and might could use a quilt to brighten their day.  More importantly, the recipient of the quilt will know that there are people who care about them, even if that person is a total stranger.

I looked through the guild stash yesterday and chose 5 quilts to give to 2 different families in need.

This first quilt is going to my friend Vickie whose son died in August.  He was only 15 years old and was her only child.  I pray that when she sits down at night to watch TV or read a book she can wrap up in this quilt and know it was made for her by people who care what she is going through right now.

The next four quilts are going to a family in my Sunday School class.  The mother, Jennifer, is going through chemo & radiation for breast cancer and will have surgery at the end of the month.  She also suffers from a pretty serious heart condition that is complicating her situation.  This quilt will be for her, isn't that a gorgeous quilt?

Jennifer and her husband have 3 children under the age of 5 and this one will be perfect for her little boy.

This one will go to her oldest daughter.  I hope she loves it as much as I do.

Isn't the wording on this label just perfect?  All the quilts have the same type label.

This last quilt will go to the youngest little girl. I just love the bright colors, they are so happy.

And here's a picture of all the quilts together.

I was overwhelmed with how many quilts the guild has stashed away to give to people in need.  I think there must have been at least 50 of them and all of them were just beautiful.  I'm hoping to deliver these quilts over the weekend so I will let you know how they were received.

Have a great weekend!

1 John 3:17-18
(17) If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? (18) Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
